These terms cover your use of stumptownstairs.com, the website of Stumptown Stairs, a licensed Oregon contractor (CCB #218207) owned by Dave Emery. By using the site you agree to them. They're written to be read, not skimmed past, so they're short.

The Site Is Informational
Everything on this site (service descriptions, design pages, guides, the glossary, the FAQ) is general information about stair building and about how we work. It's accurate to the best of our knowledge on the date it was written, but it isn't engineering advice, code advice, or a promise about your specific project. Building codes change and every house is different. Rely on a site visit, not a web page, for decisions about your own stairs.
Estimates, Prices, and Quotes
The stair cost calculator and any price ranges or figures shown on this site are planning estimates, not offers. They come from typical project data and are meant to help you budget and compare. They are not a bid, and we're not bound by them.
A firm quote comes only after a paid, in-person site visit. The site visit costs $150, and that amount is credited toward your project if you hire Stumptown Stairs to do the work. The written quote that follows the visit is the only pricing we stand behind, and it's subject to the terms in that quote and the contract you sign.
Submitting a quote request through the site doesn't create a contract or reserve a place on our schedule. We'll follow up to confirm details and schedule the visit.
Licensing, Bonding, and Insurance
Stumptown Stairs is licensed, bonded, and insured as an Oregon contractor under CCB #218207. You can verify the license with the Oregon Construction Contractors Board. We work in Oregon only; we don't hold a Washington contractor's license and can't take projects there.
Photos and Content
The project photographs on this site show Stumptown Stairs' own work. They, along with the written content and the Stumptown Stairs name and logo, belong to Stumptown Stairs and may not be copied, reused, or republished without written permission. You're welcome to link to any page. If you want to use a photo for something, a design board or an article, ask; we usually say yes.
Photos you upload with a quote request stay yours. By uploading them you give us permission to use them to scope and quote your project.
Third-Party Links and Services
The site links to outside resources (the Oregon CCB, Instagram, Google Maps, and others) and uses third-party services to run its forms, analytics, and spam protection; see the privacy policy. Those sites and services have their own terms, and we're not responsible for their content or for how they handle your data.
Limitation of Liability
The site is provided as is. We don't guarantee that it will always be available, error-free, or current. To the fullest extent Oregon law allows, Stumptown Stairs and Dave Emery aren't liable for any loss or damage that comes from using the site or relying on its content, including calculator results. Nothing here limits the rights you have under Oregon consumer protection law or under a signed contract for construction work; the contract itself governs that work.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon. Any dispute about the site will be handled in the state or federal courts serving Multnomah County, Oregon.
Changes
We may update these terms when the site or our process changes. The effective date at the top tells you when they were last revised. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
